Before Bond, there was Simon Templar, aka The Saint. He was a criminal who worked undercover, on occassions for the British Government
when no-one else would do. He got his name the Saint because of his initials S.T., put together and they're the abbreviation for a religious saint.

feels it is necessary to save more lives. His nemesis was Inspector Claude Teal of New Scotland Yard who would recurr in some adventures.
Some times they would collaborate where necessary. Like James Bond, he would often travel the world on assignment.
A number of television series have been made about the character but unlike James Bond, a big movie has failed. The last attempt at a film
was in 1997 with Val Kilmer playing the anti-hero. You had to add in a highly unbelieveable beautiful scientist who cracked a puzzle that many
scientists had been working on for ages. For convenience, series 7 is the episode list for the Return of the Saint staring Ian Ogilvy
