Spooks
| Fictional television series based on the work of MI5, the Security Service. It came to the television screen soon after the 9/11 attacks in America. It is a glamorisation of the work they do. It is shown in America under the title of Spooks because in America, that title refers to their own C.I.A. The closest American equivalent to the Service is the F.B.I. although these people do not have the power of arrest. There are no dramatic save the world style stories that you would expect from a James Bond film. The stories aim to be as plausible as possible although there is a bit of artistic licencing not officially sanctioned by the Service. The programme has had an effect on the recruitment drive of the Service thanks to two episodes. One episode has a female agent killed then disposed of in a vat of oil, another agent is shot.
